Ingredients
4 thick slices of Bristol Farms brioche bread
3 large eggs
1/2 cup whole milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 pinch of salt
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
Maple syrup, for serving
Fresh berries, for serving
Directions
-
In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until they are well combined.
-
Place the Bristol Farms brioche bread slices in the egg mixture, turning them over to coat both sides. Allow the bread to soak up the mixture for about 10 to 15 minutes.
-
Melt one tablespoon of butter in a large non-stick skillet over medium heat.
-
Once the butter is melted and heated through, add the bread slices to the skillet. Cook until the bread is golden brown and crisp on each side, which should take about 2-3 minutes per side.
-
Add another tablespoon of butter to the skillet and let it melt before adding the remaining slices of bread.
-
Once the bread is toasted on both sides and cooked through, remove it from the skillet and place it on a plate. Follow suit for each slice.
-
Top with maple syrup and fresh berries before serving hot.
-
Note: For extra flavor, you can add a dash of nutmeg or ginger to the egg mixture. You can also garnish with whipped cream and powdered sugar. This recipe works best with the thick-cut brioche slices. If you prefer a more custardy texture, you can let the bread soak up the egg mixture for a longer time.
