Sweet Loren’s is inspired by a story of survival. After battling cancer in her early 20s, Loren realized the importance of healthy eating—but she certainly wasn't about to give up her love of sweets! In addition to being vegan and gluten-free, each batch of Sweet Loren’s cookie dough is made entirely from scratch using her own recipes. From Chocolate Chunk to Fudgy Brownie, get ready to cure your cravings without compromise.
Recently, we caught up with Loren to learn more about her journey and hear her advice for fellow entrepreneurs.
1. Why did you start Sweet Loren’s?
I started Sweet Loren's after surviving cancer in my early 20s, realizing that eating simple ingredients made me feel better both physically and mentally. I wanted to satisfy my sweet tooth with feel-good ingredients, but couldn't find anything on the market…so I decided to create my own. Today, you can find Sweet Loren’s refrigerated cookie dough in over 35,000 retailers across the country!
2. What obstacles did you face along the way?
From finding the right manufacturers who could deliver against our allergen-free standards to scaling production while maintaining high-quality standards, there were many challenges! Others included hiring the best team possible while figuring out how to grow brand awareness through the right, scrappy marketing tactics.
3. What lessons do you have for other entrepreneurs?
My number one lesson would be to listen to your customers. They are your best source of information, especially when you’re just starting out and might not have a lot of data available. Most importantly, build a strong team around you. You can't do it alone.
4. What’s on the horizon for Sweet Loren’s?
We're focused on offering even more Sweet Loren’s products to our consumers. Specifically, expanding our product lines with new flavors and formats while increasing our distribution to make Sweet Loren's more accessible for everyone. Overall, we want to grow household penetration and brand awareness. So many people are still finding our brand and it’s changing their lives!
5. How do you keep work/life balance? What drives/inspires you?
It's a constant work in progress. As an entrepreneur, a mom of two, a wife, and someone who wants to do it all, I prioritize self-care by working out to relieve stress and spending enough time with my family and friends to fill my cup. I also love an organized calendar and day so I get all of the priorities done. What drives me is knowing we're making a positive impact on people's lives by providing delicious, inclusive food—that's my biggest inspiration!
