Meet the Founder: Gabriele Poli of Gelato Festival

Gabriele Poli of Gelato Festival

More than 10 years ago, Gabriele hosted his first Gelato Festival World Masters in Florence. It was the ultimate showdown of gelato artistry, pride, passion, and flavor innovation. The event brought together chefs and innovators from all over the world in honor of Italy’s most beloved dessert. Given the festival's success, Gabriele took his passion a step further by crafting artisanal pints of these award-winning gelatos.

Gelato Festival uses the highest-quality ingredients, resulting in a rich and creamy treat that you can enjoy from the comfort of your home. Indulge in decadent, dairy-based flavors like Coffee Cookie Crumble and Lemon Ricotta, or opt for plant-based goodness like their Peanut Butter Banana and Pistachio Oat Gelato.

Recently, we caught up with Gabriele to learn more about his journey and hear his advice for fellow entrepreneurs.

1. Why did you start Gelato Festival?

Gelato Festival was born from my deep love for Italian gelato and a desire to share that passion with the world. It all started in my hometown of Florence, Italy, where gelato isn’t just a dessert, but an art form and tradition that’s been passed down through generations. I wanted to create something that would celebrate this incredible craft on a global scale, and as a result, we’ve brought together thousands of the world’s best chefs in a highly competitive contest that honors the true spirit of gelato.

However, I didn’t want the experience to end there. The magic of Gelato Festival is something I believe everyone should be able to enjoy, not just at our events, but in their own homes. That’s why we launched Gelato Festival pints—to bring the excitement, the flavors, and the joy of our festivals right to your kitchen. Now, no matter where you are, you can be a part of the Gelato Festival experience, sharing in the tradition and innovation that makes gelato so special.

2. What obstacles did you face along the way?

Every great journey comes with its challenges. Rather than seeing obstacles as setbacks, I view them as opportunities to grow and refine our vision. The initial challenge of gaining traction and convincing people of the festival’s potential pushed us to be more creative, more passionate, and even more determined.

3. What lessons do you have for other entrepreneurs?

My biggest lesson for other entrepreneurs is to stay true to your vision, even when the road gets tough. Passion and authenticity are your greatest assets—people are drawn to those who believe deeply in what they do. Also, don’t be afraid to take risks and innovate, but always stay connected to the core values that inspired you in the first place. Surround yourself with a team that shares your vision, and remember that success is a journey, not a destination. Celebrate the small victories along the way.

4. What’s on the horizon for Gelato Festival?

The future of Gelato Festival is incredibly exciting. From developing unique flavors to creating more immersive experiences at our festivals, we’re expanding our reach and exploring new ways to innovate within the gelato space. We also have plans to bring Gelato Festival to new regions, sharing the joy of authentic Italian gelato with even more people around the world. It’s about continuing the journey and staying true to our roots while embracing new opportunities.

5. How do you keep work/life balance? What drives/inspires you?

First and foremost, I wake up early! I find balance by staying connected to the things that matter most—my beautiful wife and children, my heritage, and the joy that gelato brings people. What drives me is the passion for sharing something meaningful, creating moments of happiness and moments that bring people together—that’s what inspires me every day. That’s what keeps me going, no matter how busy things get.
