BF 101: Crudo Platter

Crudo Platter

Let's get entertaining with a stunning crudo platter! Fresh seafood is light and delicate, making it the perfect appetizer for your next gathering or dinner party. From raw oysters to jumbo shrimp, our seafood department has everything you need to build the ultimate crudo platter at home. Ready to impress? Grab some ice, your favorite serving platter, and a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc to pair!

How To Build The Perfect Crudo Platter

Oysters

No crudo platter would be complete without some freshly shucked oysters! These briny bivalves are refreshing and salty. The texture is definitely one-of-a-kind, but topping your oysters with lemon or a zesty mignonette makes them all the more enjoyable. Not interested in learning how to shuck your own oysters? No problem! Simply ask us and we’ll take care of it in-store! Arrange your oysters over ice along the edges of your round serving platter for an elegant and elevated presentation.

Kettle-Cooked Jumbo Shrimp

Shrimp cocktail is a year-round favorite, making it a must-have when creating your crudo platter. Our kettle-cooked jumbo shrimp are juicy, sweet, and totally satisfying. In other words, they’re shrimply the best! Since they are pretty large, place as many as possible near the center of your platter while still leaving some room for a couple of sauce ramekins.

Poke

Poke is a traditional Hawaiian staple that always hits the spot. Transport yourself to an island getaway when you take a bite of our fresh and flavorful ahi tuna poke. If you want to add a little kick, our spicy tuna poke is also ideal. Serve your poke in a glass bowl either in the center of the platter or alongside it. You can also pair your poke with wonton chips for the perfect crunch!

Cocktail Sauce

A simple combination of ketchup and horseradish, cocktail sauce and fresh seafood are a match-made-in-heaven. While shrimp is commonly paired with cocktail sauce, this tangy and slightly spicy condiment can also be enjoyed with fresh oysters. Though you can easily find cocktail sauce on our shelves, it is also easy to make at home. Just combine ketchup, lemon juice, horseradish, and Worcestershire sauce and you’re good to go!

Mignonette Sauce

Mignonette is the ultimate oyster topper, and thankfully, it’s super easy to make. In a small ramekin, add some minced shallots, red wine vinegar, and freshly ground black pepper. This zesty and light sauce adds vibrancy to the oysters without distracting too much from its naturally briny and refreshing taste.
